love is in the earth
Meet our Founders
Michael Lynch has traveled all over the world on various projects. He met Kim Kindersley, an award-winning filmmaker, who was living in Ubud Bali at the time, through a mutual friend in Kenya in 2013, whilst consulting on an environmental project. Michael, who comes from a long line of farmers, returned home to Ireland in 2017 and soon moved into Riverside Farm, County Cavan, with his family.
The project was conceived with Kim Kindersley over the next few years. “I had started to take CBD oil for inflammation and to help with depression, this was my starting point and I was blown away at just how effective it was. I shared my findings with Michael, naively thinking it would be easy to grow hemp and make CBD oil ourselves.”
What has unfolded has been a magical challenging journey, which every day continues to inspire. We are only just beginning to get a real sense of the potential of this divine plant. In 2022 early January we fell foul of the FSA in Ireland and were forced to cease our beautiful production here. But our network of beautiful like-minded souls kicked in right away and now we believe that our oil coproduced with our Swiss partners is even better.
Love is in the Earth – The process:
It’s simple, it starts with the soil, the land, and the preparation of the soil and the land in the spring. EU regulated seeds are sown, nurtured and then we let nature run its course. Along the way we nurture the fields, including plucking out the male plants after about 6 weeks, to ensure the females make less seeds. All the land is certified organic , always chemical, heavy metals, pesticide free.
Harvest by hand
It’s then carefully hand-picked at harvest time, with a wonderful community spirit. Yes, it’s easier and cheaper to use a harvester but this damages the delicate components of the flower, the trichomes, and leaves. We want every little bit of delicate goodness, to reach you intact. We know this is reflected in the quality of the oil.
Slow natural drying
So much is done by machine in industrial hemp production but we believe that to make a beautiful artisan oil, it should be done the natural way and let the excess moisture evaporate over a few weeks. This way all the elements are preserved in the delicate plant ready for processing into the most natural oil available in the world.
